What is an Educators Tour?

On selected Fridays throughout the school year, colleagues and educators are invited to tour and become a part of the learning communities at both the Ocean Park and Marine Park campuses. The day begins with a brief introduction to our programs, time to observe in the classrooms at Ocean Park while the children engage in classroom activities, small group work, and dialogues with one another. The participants have lunch on their own in the local community (restaurant suggestions are provided). In the afternoon the participants meet at the Marine Park site for a joint meeting with teachers from both schools. One classroom shares current work of the children and all of the teachers and tour participants engage in dialogue about the ideas and questions of the children. The classrooms at Marine Park are available for observation in the afternoon.

Workshops:

On selected Saturday mornings from 9:00-12:00, participants are invited to engage in a workshop held at The Growing Place Marine Park in the Marine Park auditorium. Presenters are classroom teachers, who have engaged in long term small group work and investigations with children. The participants will have an opportunity to see images and video clips of the small groups as well as hear the prospective of the classroom teacher who facilitated the work. The participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions, make comments, offer feedback, etc.

March 13th: Music & Movement in Relation to Children's Multiple Intelligences

How do young children identify and develop relationships with sound, rhythm, music, locomotion, and movement? Come and learn what amazing things can happen when children use their logical-mathematical, spacial, kinesthetic and musical intelligences to interpret and theorize about their world!

Please feel free to email with any other questions, seadra@growingplace.com.

We hope to see you!
