Welcome to The Growing Place!

Who are we? The Growing Place is a full-day, non-profit preschool program committed to providing young children of full-time working families with exceptional quality education . We are devoted to serving students and families of diverse social, racial and economic backgrounds. Additionally, The National Association of Early Childhood Education (NAEYC) accredits The Growing Place program.

What is our foundation? We are a learning community sustained by a close collaboration of parents, teachers and students. The Growing Place supports the child's right to develop a positive disposition toward learning - the foundation for academic success. We believe that education should focus on each child in relation to a community of other learners rather than students in isolation. Our curriculum emphasizes the development of children's social- emotional skills,, conflict resolution skills, relational skills, and problem-solving skills. We also invite children to advocate for their right to think critically and question the learning process.

How do we build on our foundation? The Growing Place philosophy uses the model of integrated social constructivist practice - a process of generating ideas and concepts, researching theories collectively, evaluation findings with peers, finding provocations that broaden the questioning process then building on previous knowledge to deepen understanding. This practice supports each participant of the learning process as competent, capable learners - teachers, students and parents. Through research and co-construction of knowledge, The Growing Place philosophy fosters curiosity, experimentation, and the expression of ideas and acknowledges the many contributors to each child's development - child, parent, teacher, environment, community and materials.

What are our goals?

To help children form meaningful relationships, have fun, feel valued, and learn that school is a place where they can be successful.

To provide an early education program that will promote the growth of relationships between children, parents,
and teachers.

To offer children educational experiences and a thoughtful environment that support their language, as well as their cognitive, social, emotional, aesthetic, and physical development; also foster problem solving and diverse ways to express ideas and feelings.

To provide children a seamless day of education, play, and structured routines.

To develop a community where parents, teachers, staff and children can share information and support each other’s development.
